Type-Specific Capability Questions
Tool Questions
FINDING TASKS USING CWE IDENTIFIERS <CR_A.2.1>
Give detailed examples and explanations of how a user can locate tasks in the tool by looking for their associated CWE identifier (required):
Users can specify searches based on CWE identifiers using the search criteria by regular expression, such as:
- An individual CWE Identifier: CWE-ID(ddd)(.)*, such as CWE-476(.)*
- A list of CWE Identifiers: CWE-ID(d, or dd)(.)*, such as CWE-4(.)*
Step 1: Search Feature
For example, suppose we want to search for warnings associated with CWE-476. The results will then be applied to the list of defects.
Step 2: Using the Search Tool to find the relevant CWE-IDs
Step 3: Results of search for CWE-476
FINDING CWE IDENTIFIERS USING ELEMENTS IN REPORTS <CR_A.2.2>
Give detailed examples and explanations of how, for reports that identify individual security elements, the tool allows the user to determine the associated CWE identifier for the individual security elements in the report (required):
The RESORT Code Analysis provides CWE-ID reports and lists the defects identified by the tool. All of the CWE identifiers in our tool are linked to specific CWE-ID page on the CWE website by help feature (Customize Audits).
RESORT Code Analysis Report, showing link of associated CWE website
GETTING A LIST OF CLAIMED CWE IDENTIFIER COVERAGE <CR_A.2.3>
Give detailed examples and explanations of how a user can obtain a listing of all of the CWE identifiers that the owner claims the tool is effective at locating in software (required):
